Today a little comic scene on the beach: as we were walking along the shoreline, a small toddler ran in front of us after his blue soccer ball and wobble his way into the water. We look around and it seemed noone was watching over him. I slowed down and stayed in the vicinity in case he would get caught by a wave. I looked around and the only group of people who might be his relative was way up the beach. After a good 10 minutes, I saw the man of the group suddenly darting, in panic, toward the parking lot (probably thinking that they might have forgotten the kid up there). At last, they looked towards us and I pointed at the kid playing next to me. The father turned around and sprinted down the beach like an olympic athlete but with a giant belly shaking at every stride. A perfect scene which reminded me of the sport teacher "Mr Megot" from the comic book "Le petit Spirou"...always pictured painfully running, with his beer-belly protruding, a cigarette in his mouth and beers/cigarette butts falling out of the pockets of his jogging pants.
17 km done for a total of 1729+17km = 1746 km

Today I had a visit from a little friend right on top of my guitalele.
The receding ocean left a gruesome scene, behind it. All of these black lines are not made out of the usual seaweed but actually out of billions dead ants. How they've got all washed out by the Sea: no clue.
It's now the 3rd dead dolphin we've seen on the beach. Their intestines were filled with plastic waste or black tar/petrol and their fins were cut out (sold to China where Fin soup is a culinary delicacy?). Also, here and there we've found black pieces of oil scattered along the coastline. They are probably coming from oil spills or leaking or wrecked cargo boats like the one we've seen below.
26 km done for a total of 1819+26km = 1845 km
