BLOG: Our daily adventures,
Week 35: Ferrol to Faro da Punta Robaleira
September 3rd to 9th
- Day 239 to Day 242: September 3rd to September 6th: Forced recovery time and murals quest in Ferrol - 0 km
This artist integrated the lamppost and the trash can into his piece of art: even more ugly objects to beautify!
Every morning, our little routine here in Ferrol, on our way to our quest for murals, we stop at our now favorite bakery to buy chocolate croissants (which Casey keeps calling "croissance" despite my efforts to teach him proper French: I'm looking forward to witnessing him ordering "growth", next year, when we'll hike in France).
The only problem, when we eat our breakfast on the little plaza facing the bakery: an army of pigeons are running after us trying to get our breadcrumbs...we are lucky that these birds are not the type to get agressive. Otherwise we could have been easily experiencing a remake of Hitchcock's movie "The birds".

On our quest for murals, we met an artist in action, she has been hired by the city council to paint this old abandoned house. She told us about her dedication and fight for the citizens of Ferrol and its politicians to accept the "beautification" of their streets/walls by encouraging the art of painting on such abandoned old buildings and on the walls of the skyscrapers which are plentiful in this city. The whole town is transformed slowly in a modern art ever-increasing museum thanks to her efforts and the determination of the artists community in Ferrol: an example to follow!
Resting time: still a total of 2941 km
- Day 243: September 7th: Ferrol to Praia de Campelo - 15 km
15 km done for a total of 2941 + 15 = 2956 km
- Day 244: September 8th: Praia de Campelo to The cliffs above Praia da Frouxeira - 12 km
Today we had the chance and time to jump both in the salty water of the Atlantic ocean AND to float/swim blissfully in the fresh water of the Lagoa da Frouxeira...I feel so grateful for this little pearl of a moment.
Cherry on top: this beach bar to enjoy the caressing rays of the sunset...I love my life right now (a wink for my friend SMX in Vancouver).
Our other routine: in each bar/cafe/restaurant we stopped at, we refill our bottle with water, recharge our batteries and replenish our stock of toilet paper (the most important item apparently in covid times but also in hiking trips ;) ).

My wise man...
Nature's beauty effect: goosebumps!
12 km done for a total of 2956 + 12 = 2968 km
- Day 245: September 9th: The cliffs above Praia da Frouxeira to Faro da Punta Robaleira - 17 km
Casey was worried we would run out of water...right after he wished for it, a little spring (fonte) appeared on our path: ask and you shall receive!
Surfers from the sharks perspective...
17 km done for a total of 2968 + 17 = 2985 km
